Esters improve the performance of lubricants, whether used as the primary base stock or as a property-enhancing additive. Esters can be produced over a wide range of viscosities, viscosity indices, load-carrying and other critical properties. The inherent polarity of esters results in lower volatility, cleaner lubrication, long-life, biodegradability and attraction to metal surfaces.
